Ritual
In collaboration with Kate Romano and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Rob Godman and partners have been successful in securing RVW Trust, Britten Pears Foundation, Ambache Trust and Arts Council England funding for their new concert tour ‘Ritual’.
The project is a reinvention of early film and electronica for the 21st Century concert-hall. Works include a reinvention of Varese's seminal Poème électronique and a new audio-visual companion piece by Rob Godman - Faraday Waves (Santander Award 2015). Created from still images and video of early physics experiments (Robert Hooke 1680 and Ernst Chladni 1787), the work explores early visualizations of sound.
Ritual premiered at the Cheltenham Festival 9th July 2016 and later toured a number of venues throughout the UK.
Their work included a significant outreach programme, including schools activities and the creation of customisable code (written in Scratch by Rob Godman) for the use of children and staff alike.
Their work focuses on bringing excellent musical programmes that combine live electroacoustic performance into a meaningful concert-hall and public art environment.
